Where do I buy a matt cutter in Calgary?
Looking to buy a matt cutter (to cut the paper that goes around a picture in a frame) for my Mom, but I'm not sure where to find one.
An art supply store would be the logical starting point. I'm not familiar enough with Calgary to identify a particular store - but if you look in the yellow pages under art - supplies, you should find a list.
The best known brand of matt cutter is Logan. Naturally, you will have a wide range of options from which to choose. The simplest Logan (model 1000) is a simple aluminum block that holds a single-edge blade and that costs about as much as a couple of grande latte's at Starbucks. You can move upward from there to select matt cutters that include a base, straight-edge and rails that will cost several hundred bucks.
By the way, don't forget to include a package of extra blades. Matt cutting blades dull quickly, and it would be very thoughtful to include some 'spare capacity' in the gift for your mom.
